FAQs About Our Grooming Service

We at Plaza Veterinary Hospital offer pet grooming services as part of our commitment to helping you keep your pets healthy and happy. We have received many questions about pet grooming over the years, and we have put together the answers to some of our most frequently asked examples below for you to check out.

What do pet grooming services include?

Our pet grooming services are tailored to the needs of the individual pets. For example, our standard cat grooming services include either a shave or a lion cut, while our dog grooming services include a bath, nail trim, ear cleaning, and anal expression. In addition, we also offer optional cat grooming services such as baths, nail caps, or even sedation for anxious cats.

Why is pet grooming important?

We encourage every pet owner to groom their pet regularly to ensure that their coat remains beautiful and healthy—not only does brushing your pet’s fur prevent it from becoming matted (and in turn prevent mats from causing skin abrasions or ulcers), but it also helps build the bond of trust between you and encourages positive behavior. In addition, having your pet regularly groomed by professionals allows you to keep a closer eye on their health, as groomers will be able to spot potential health problems early on.

What should I do to prepare my pet for their trip to the groomer?

There are several things you can do to help your pet prepare for and remain calm during grooming services. First, we encourage you to brush your pet regularly at home, so they become used to this type of interaction. Second, it’s a good idea to put your pet’s carrier in the open a few days before your scheduled grooming appointment, as this allows them time to acclimate to it (this is especially important for cats). Third, discuss your pet’s needs with the groomer ahead of time to help make sure your pet can have the most positive experience.
