Your pet is just another member of the family, so when something is wrong with them, you want to make sure they receive the care they need right away. While you might not take your pet to the vet very often outside of routine vaccination and wellness appointments, there may come a day where you should get your furry friend to the vet sooner rather than later.
Here are a few situations that warrant a timely trip to our office:
- Your pet’s behavior changes — You know your pet and what’s normal for them in terms of daily behavior. If your furry friend suddenly becomes overly anxious, withdrawn, or aggressive, this could be a sign of an underlying health issue. Behavioral changes can indicate pain or discomfort, so it’s wise to consult with your vet.
- Your pet ate something strange — Did your curious cat take a bit out of a plastic bag or did your dog sneak a bit of chocolate? Even if they seem fine, ingesting toxic substances or foreign objects can lead to health risks. Get your pet to the vet right away for an examination.
- Your pet is having dental issues — Bad breath isn’t just a quirky trait – it can indicate that your pet has dental issues. If you notice your pet has problems eating or their gums are swelling, take them to the vet.
- Your pet has seasonal allergies — Just like humans, pets can suffer from seasonal allergies. If you notice your cat or dog developing skin irrigations, excessively scratching, or sneezing, you might want to take them in for an allergy checkup.
