Dr. Madison Cloninger
Dr. Cloninger joined Plaza Veterinary Hospital in the spring of 2014. She began her pursuit of veterinary medicine from the young age of 6 and is thrilled to have the opportunity to serve the pet loving community in Burlington. A native of Salisbury, NC she received a bachelor's degree in animal science at North Carolina State University in two and a half years, graduating as valedictorian in her eagerness to begin veterinary school which she completed at Colorado State University. Dr. Cloninger has a sincere interest in pain management in all aspects of medical care, including preventative care, in order to improve quality of life for our animals. She is certified in animal acupuncture as one of the ways she can offer pain management techniques. She has recently begun to develop more of an interest in emergency medicine and surgical procedures. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her son and pursuing almost any outdoor activity- especially hiking, kayaking, and horseback riding, as well as snowshoeing when the chance arises!
Dr. Marie Ballengee
Dr. Ballengee has called North Carolina her home since 1994 - though originally from central New York. She is a 2002 graduate of North Carolina State University, College of Veterinary Medicine. She also hold a BS in Pharmacy from Purdue University. In addition, She is a Certified Canine Rehabilitation Practitioner (CCRP) from the University of Tennessee and certified in Veterinary Acupuncture (cVMA) from Colorado State University.
Dr. Ballengee enjoys preventative health care and medicine and takes special interest in small animal acupuncture and rehabilitation services. Dr. Ballengee joined Plaza Veterinary Hospital in December of 2015 and works on Wednesdays. She has been a wonderful addition to our team at Plaza and we look forward to the future with her at this practice!
When not at work Dr. Ballengee enjoys spending time outside, hiking, doing yard work and playing with her two rescued Dobermans and her cat!
Dr. Karen McGlothlin
Dr. McGlothlin joined the Plaza Veterinary Hosptial Team in July, 2016. A 2007 graduate of the College of Veterinary Medicine at Iowa State University, Dr. McGlothlin has spent the last 9 years practicing small animal medicine in Crossville, TN. She holds a BS in Biological Sciences from East Tennessee University and a Ph.D. in Zoology from Clemson University. Prior to going back to school to pursue her dream of veterinary medicine, Dr. McGlothlin was a biology professor at the University of the South (also known as Sewanee). Dr. McGlothlin has strong interests in Internal Medicine, Dermatology, Feline Medicine, and Geriatric Wellness. When not working, she enjoys spending time with her 3 dogs and 2 cats, hiking, kayaking, and reading.
Office Manager and Veterinary Assistant: William

William was born and raised in Alamance County. He has over 10 years of experience as a veterinary assistant. He has a sincere love of animals and caring for them which shows when they are all almost immediately all his friend. Spending time with family and friends, reading, and bargain hunting are among the activities William enjoys when not taking care of your furry family.
Jennifer is a mother of four small children and still finds time to help our clients in the afternoons and evenings. She has a long history of working in veterinary clinics and is incredibly knowledgeable when taking your calls. Perhaps used to things getting a bit chaotic, she can walk you through many situations and try to get you an answer or in to see the doctor if necessary.
While originally from New York, you can't hold her roots against her for too long as Bonnie is one of the most friendly and outgoing ladies we have around here (she even likes grits and fried okra)! Bonnie too has years of experience in veterinary medicine and is always willing to take her time to talk with you about any concerns you have.
Natalie is originally from Jacksonville, FL. While in Florida, she earned her Bachelor of Science with an emphasis in Microbiology. She and her husband have 4 children. In 2006, the family moved to Burlington in search of a positive change. Natalie has been employed at Plaza Veterinary Hospital since 2010. When she is not at here at Plaza helping your pets, you will find her homeschooling, baking, cooking, shuttling children around, or at church.
Veterinary Assistant: Luis
Luis has wanted to be part of the animal care industry since he graduated high school. We are truly lucky to have him join us in the spring of 2015 as part of our team. He has a sincere love of his large breed dogs and is very knowledgeable having raised a few litters of husky puppies! He will take his time to make sure we have answered all your questions before you leave. Luis is also fluent in Spanish.
Veterinary Assistant: Bradley
Bradley was born and raised in Burlington and has been a part of the Plaza Vet Team since 2000. He has 2 elderly dogs, Sam and Sierra, and 2 cats, Jax and Thor. From his own experiences with his dogs, Bradley uses his tricks and information he has learned over the years to help clients with their own geriatric pets! When not working, Bradley enjoys hiking, camping, snow skiing, traveling, and spending time with his family.
Receptionist: Tracy Kelly
Tracy is a lifelong lover of animals, both great and small! She brings over 20 years of Customer Service experience to our team. She is the mother of 2 beautiful daughters and Thor, her beloved bulldog. She is more than happy to assist in any way she can!
